Palisades Park is perched atop Ebell Mountain in Blount County. The 100 acre park opened in 1973 and offers excellent rock climbing and repelling. Located at the foothills of the Southern Appalachians, the mountain is a combination of sandstone and limestone with embedded marine fossils for the late Peleozoic Era. Other activities at the park include group pavilions, picnicking, hiking, and a playground. Several colonial cabins and a log school are also on site.
