The highlands trail is a 0.38 mile paved trail great for the whole family. The trail begins at either the Highlands Picnic area or a small parking area along the one-way drive. Hiking in from either end requires a steep uphill climb to start the trail. After this the trail remains level as it meanders through thick forest and vegetation. Wild life including deer, fox, and turkey can sometimes be seen. Birds fill the air with calls during the spring, summer and early fall months. This is a short hike everyone can enjoy after a relaxing picnic in the Highlands Picnic area.
